Since Annie will be beginning preschool next week, I'm trying to think of things to pack her for lunch. I'm trying to think of things that aren't going to go bad and make her sick. If you have any ideas, please post them on the comment page.
You know, I was talking with my friend, Melanie, and we thought it might be neat to exchange meal ideas, recipes, etc. with other moms. So if this sounds like a good idea to anybody else, lemme know and I'll try to work out something.

I Need More Ideas

Excellent blogs today, Sweetheart! With respect to lunch ideas, be wary of buying processed foods like the infamous Oscar Meyer "Lunchables." Same thing with juices. Buy only 100% juice; not "drinks." Of course, 100% juice needs to be kept cold so I'd try her thermos to see how long it keeps liquids cold. You can pour ice water into it to begin with to get it cold, after a few minutes pour the water out, and then pour in the juice. Seems like a slice of whole grain wheat bread with jam, jelly or preserves folded over would make a good meal. Granola bars might be good; also enticing veggies like sweet baby carrots in a small tupperware container might be good. When I was in Jr. High, my mom would actually fry a hamburger patty and place it between two toasted slices of bread with mustard. It would keep from about 7:00 'til 11:30 or noon. I never got sick. Other fruits like sliced apple, grapes, & banana are nutritious. Good luck!
Love,
Dad
Hey there,
What a great idea. i know that you will get the hang of it. start a little menue. mon-this, tuesday-that,etc.etc. I freeze the grapes overnight. The purple ones are more yummy. freeze her lunch bag if its the cooler type. Put a cooler packet in the lunch bag. I'm not sure what type of material it is. Same kind you carry bottels in. if you go to Henreys, the have all kinds of big bens filled with different snacks that you can make up. Try a healthy trail mix of your own creation of foods that you know are safe( non choking foods) even name it something creative. also the kids love apple saucse (no sugar added fruit cups).A bottle of ice water always hits the spot. Your dad is right 100% juice is great. go to whole foods market.com, to recipies, then to kid friendly recipies, then to lunch in a box. For healthy ideas. I hope this helps. I am excited for this new adventure of being a mom. may the Lord bless
love Nettie
Thanks for the great ideas!!
**Hey girlie... I'm so glad that you're blogging. We can be blogging pals! :) Yeah... your girl is going to O.C. too. My youngest bro is going to be a freshman there. He's playing football for Chris. You'll have to come to a game sometime. Take care girlie!
